Set in the hills of Highland Perthshire alongside the River Lyon, Callwood Smiddy is a 240-year-old stone-built blacksmith's forge. For over a hundred years, cattle were shod here for the long journey on the drovers' roads, taking them from their highland pastures to the markets in the south.
Retaining many of its original features, the Smiddy has been thoughtfully converted to provide characterful self-catering accommodation for 4 adults.
Amidst the stunning beauty of Perthshire's lochs, forests, mountains and glens, Callwood is ideally situated for a self-catering cottage holiday in the very heart of Scotland.
In the heart of the Southern Highlands of Scotland, Callwood Smiddy is set in peaceful rural surroundings in an area of outstanding natural beauty. 2.5 miles from the picturesque village of Kenmore on the shores of Loch Tay, the River Lyon flows quietly past the cottage on its way to join the Tay a few hundred yards downstream.
Callwood Smiddy has been an integral part of many memorable holidays for over ten years. Read the comments left in the Visitors Book by some of our previous guests.

You should have a category of "excellent". This would apply to our stay at the cottage and to the owners.

We had a wonderful week at the cottage and intend to go back at some time in the future. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the countryside round about was beautiful (we woke up one morning to red squirrels running round a tree a few feet away) All in all it was a really enjoyable break.
